Bob is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Sunstone Hotel Investors, Inc, a New York Stock Exchange listed company (NYSE: SHO). Beginning with a single, 28-room distressed Colorado hotel property, Bob grew the business, and today, it is one of the five largest hotel REIT's with over $3.0 billion total enterprise value. Operating throughout the United States, Sunstone acquires, develops, operates, renovates, manages and sells hotel properties. The company owns upper-upscale and upscale hotels that are operated under brand names franchised or licensed from others, such as Marriott, Hilton, InterContinental, Hyatt, and Starwood. Sunstone's portfolio consists of over 60 hotels representing over 17,000 rooms in 17 states. Specific properties in the Sunstone portfolio include Hilton Times Square, Washington, D.C. Renaissance, Century Plaza Hotel & Spa, and Marriott Boston Long Wharf.

Bob served as President of the IAHI, the franchise owners association for Intercontinental Hotels Group, and also served on its Board of Directors. He also served on the Board of Directors of MINA, the association of Marriott franchise owners and operators. Currently, Bob is Chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee for the American Hotel & Lodging Association.

Bob founded and was a Director of Buy Efficient, LLC, which is now a jointly owned venture between Sunstone Hotel Investors and Strategic Hotels & Resorts. Buy Efficient is an Internet-based purchasing management platform with over 600 participating hotels and senior living properties throughout the United States and Canada.

Bob is a graduate of the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration.
